Reading an image - media codes

 1) Analyse this RBK 50 Cent advert using the media codes you learned in the lesson: Technical, Written or verbal, Symbolic or non-verbal, Narrative. Write a paragraph for each one exploring the way meanings are created using those media codes.

Firstly the the written codes are: the main title in the centre, the text above which is a quote and lastly is the branding in which the choices of font could represent gun shots due to the filled white circles representing 'O'.

Additionally the technical codes is: the dark lighting and the choice of a monotone colourway to centralise the focus on the text and images.

Moreover the symbolic codes are: the fingerprints which could represent criminal activity due to police taking records of criminals fingerprints and the attire/clothing of 50 cent appears to be more streetwear which gangster and thugs are known to wear.

2) Next, analyse a print advert of your choice using the same media codes:
Technical, Written or verbal, Symbolic or non-verbal, Narrative. Make sure you add your chosen print advert using the 'Add image' button in blogger (use Google Images to find the advert first and save it to your pictures or downloads).

Firstly the the written codes are: the title, subtitle and text at the bottom of the image in which it is in a cleaner/more slick font in which may covey a sense of formality.

Secondly the technical codes is: the camera being at a low angle in which makes the subject appear bigger and the dark monotone colourway in which makes the jewellery stand out as it is the only coloured thing.

Lastly the symbolic codes is: the use of a cello player in which would be seen to be seen as more fancy due to it's link to orchestra.
