The preferred reading for the 50 cent campaign and advent was to make the audience assume their target demographic was aimed at a younger or less fortunate audience in which were surrounded by more crime and violence. The use of 50 Cent within this advertisement portrays Reebok as more involved, up to date, relateable  and diverse with the use of an individual/rapper with a more controversial background and history. The oppositional reading is that Reebok is highlighting gang life and culture which could be taken out of context and used as a negative for the company.

The preferred reading would be prioritising makeup over school in which it would most likely be very contiversal due to the oppositional reading being that it influences skipping classes and not focusing in school to rather wear make up whilst the preferred reading would target a younger female audience who yet wouldn't understand what they should be prioritising as the advertisement further re-enforces this.

Reception theory is vital while analysing media products because it highlights all the meanings of a product as well as really shows all the different view points on a media text. hence it is essential for the use of analysis in media because it gives a range of outcomes.Reception theory provides a means to understand media texts by understanding the different ways audiences view these texts.
